Car Interior Preheater

With winter’s chill headed our way in select countries, it goes without saying that keeping warm is one of the priorities this season – and doing so in style is an even better idea. Well, for those of us who do not have the luxury of a heated garage, parking our cars outside of our houses without any form of heating could prove to be torture to get into, especially during those super cold mornings. Enter the $119.95 Car Interior Preheater – where this programmable heater is capable of helping defrost your automobile’s windshield, while making sure the interior warms up before you even open the door and drop your bottom on the seat.

This is a battery-powered device which can be recharged, and will not draw power from the car as it can also be set to automatically turn on up to 20 minutes before you enter the car. A couple of heat vents will tilt 180ยบ in order to direct the hot air onto the windshield, or to send it throughout the car. Resting on the dashboard, there is virtually no need for any installation. It juices up in just four hours – making it a winter essential.

Bionic contact lens sends emails right to your eyes

I myself am still rather apprehensive when it comes to wearing a pair of contact lenses, as I still feel that there is something in there which I just need to remove. I guess it will take some time to get used to it compared to those who have worn contacts since time immemorial, but here is a cool idea – what if the contact lens of the future is injected with technology that we never would have thought existed? I’m talking about a pair of bionic contact lens that is capable of projecting emails before your very eyes. Yes sir, the whole idea of this particular pair of contact lenses is to stream real-time information right to the front of your eyes, and initial tests in animal trials have proved successful according to the scientists behind the project. Imagine wearing your contact lens and reading floating texts as well as e-mails that fly into your inbox without missing a beat, or perhaps even augmenting your sight using computer-generated images just like in the movie Terminator.

Alienware unveils M18x gaming machine

Dell, when they bought over the Alienware brand some years back, had many people wondering whether this is going to be the start of the brand going downhill since Dell doesn’t really know much about dedicated gaming notebooks as their lineup had been more of the casual user types. Well, we’re rather pleased to say that Dell has done a pretty good job thus far, leaving Alienware intact in terms of branding without really interfering on what’s going on, so most users would not really be able to tell the difference in the newer Alienware offerings.

Well, Alienware is proud to attempt to redefine mobile gaming yet again with the M18x gaming notebook, and is proud to announce that said machine is the “most powerful 18-inch gaming laptop in the universe”. We’ll see about that in the extended post as we pore over its specifications, so make sure you’ve got a tub of chips ready just in case there is more than a pinch of salt in that claim that you might want to season those chips with.

Sceptre 46″ LCD Full HD TV

Let’s face the cold, hard facts – most folks these days have already upgraded to a full HDTV in their living rooms, and be they LCD, LED or plasma, one common factor that binds all of them would be this – they’re super slim (although the later generation models tend to be a whole lot more slim compared to the first few generations, not to mention thinner and thinner bezels) and getting cheaper by the day for a similar screen size.

Sceptre intends to further confuse consumers with the 46″ LCD Full HD TV, bringing along their expertise of manufacturing LED and LCD HDTVs and PC monitors right into the middle of your living room. You will find that this newly unveiled 46-inch LCD Full HD TV will sport premium surround sound while coming in an elegant glossy black finish with silver highlights. It measures under an inch thin at the thinnest point, and will deliver SRS TruSurround HD and TruVolume as well.

Quicktionary TS Premium offers a portable dictionary that does more than just provide meanings

Wizcom Technologies is a pretty well known name when it comes to portable scanning pens, and the latest device from its stables would be the Quicktionary TS Premium, which is actually a pocket sized, user-friendly portable dictionary and scanning device that will allow not only students but folks who work in multilingual environments to translate and define printed material regardless of where they are – all the while without disrupting their reading process.

The Quicktionary TS Premium is also more than capable of scanning printed text and transferring it over to a PC for future or later reference. According to Wizcom Technologies, their products are developed using unique expertise in linguistics and image processing. This has led them to achieve ‘best-of-breed’ milestones in the fields of microelectronics, electro-optics and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) algorithm engines, hence leading to the birth of the Quicktionary TS Premium.

Mad Catz announces TRITTON AX Pro headset for the Xbox 360 and PS3

Mad Catz, a company that carries plenty of gaming accessories across different platforms, has just announced the new TRITTON AX Pro headset that will make its way towards the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles. After all, Mad Catz knows just how important it is to have the right kind of headset if you want to pick up all the noise and sound a game has to offer while you maximize your gaming experience.

With the TRITTON AX Pro, it does not matter whether you are a serious gamer or committed audio connoisseur – it is able to offer a truly authentic Dolby Digital 5.1 audio experience. Being different compared to Dolby Headphone technology, the AX Pro will use at least 8 precision-balanced speakers (with a quartet located within each ear cup) that will accurately reproduce 5.1 surround sound without the need for the common cop out move of emulating or simulating an audio experience.

Spice Popcorn Projector M-9000 phone

We do know that this handset is capable of displaying large images from a short distance, and throwing images isn’t the only thing which it is capable of. The handset will also come with various features including an FM radio, a TV antenna for your mobile TV needs (subject to area and reception, we presume), and a document viewer – enough to peruse through some work documents, but definitely unable to modify that Word doc or Excel spreadsheet.

The phone will also come equipped with a 2.4” QVGA display and a 3.2-megapixel digital camera, where you can view streaming content or display content that is saved on a T-flash memory card. The card slot itself is able to handle capacities of up to 16GB, and it does seem as though the phone will arrive in India first for RS 6999 (that is roughly $155 in American dollars) with no mention of a Stateside rollout.

Solar Powered iPhone? Yes Please

So, I take my cell phone with me no matter where I go. I consider it a luxury, but I also like to think that I would have it with me in the case of an emergency, like when my brand new car broke down this morning, and I was stuck on the side of the highway. Oh I had my phone alright, but the battery was dead, and the charger was in my other (and I guess, better) car.

Well that wont ever happen to any of us again if Apple has it’s way. According to U.S. patent reports, Apple wants to be able to incorporate solar cells into some of their touch screen products. Can anyone say iPhone 5? Okay, can anyone say iPhone 6 then? Anyway, let’s imagine if you will, the premise of throwing your phone up on the dashboard and having it be ready to go anytime you need it. Awesome.

iChair arrives at KickStarter

KickStarter is a pretty interesting initiative since it allows budding ideas to take off as long as enough people buy in into the idea. One of the more recent ones would be theiChair, and judging by the ‘i’ prefix in front, one would think that this has something to do with a device from Apple. Of course, such thinking is spot on, as the iChair is an integrated stand that offers hands-free viewing in either portrait or landscape mode. This is also a dual layer case for added protection, where the slider style lets one access all third party accessories in the process.

Well, so far we do know that the iChair project has 21 backers who has pledged a total of $1,030, which is still a far cry from the $15,000 goal. Good thing there are still 20 more days to go, so with nearly three weeks left on the calendar, there is a glimmer of hope.

For those of you who are wondering what the iChair is all about, why not head on there and see whether you are able to make a contribution? I’m sure the person(s) behind it would be more than happy to see their project gain traction and financial recognition among the masses. Each case, if it ever makes it into production, will include a screen protector, dust cloth, and squeegee board.

Scanner detects cancer in an hour, costs $200 to make

The wonders of the human mind never ceases to amaze me, and this time around we have a bunch of boffins over at Harvard University and MIT working together to create what could potentially have positive effects in the fight against cancer worldwide – using just $200 worth of parts to develop a scanner gizmo which is capable of detecting cancer in just an hour.
This will be a handheld device, where it will use “antibodies and magnetic particles to seek out and flag cancer in cells, which are extracted with a needle, rather than large amounts of surgically removed tissue.” All diagnostic results can be processed on a smartphone via an app (hopefully the app will be free), and you can check out your results in an hour without having to wait for a week as the biopsy takes place. That kind of wait can be pretty tough, especially for those who have a weak mental fortitude.
Current biopsy tests are around 84% accurate, but this invention is touted to deliver accuracy levels of up to 96%, now, this is definitely a real boost that will have you sleeping batter at night with proper diagnosis before you take a more exact step after that. No idea on whether this will enter production or not, but we sure as heck hope it does!

Four Attractant Mosquito Trap

Certain mosquitoes do carry some deadly diseases, and it goes without
saying that they are a pest which we could all do without. I’m not too sure how
it will affect the overall ecological system though, but surely frogs and other
carnivores who feast on mosquitoes can find other insects to keep themselves
full?
Us as humans can do our part to make sure that these little critters
will not be able to feast on our blood for long, especially when we’re outdoors,
with the Four
Attractant Mosquito Trap. This unique device will emit light, vibrations,
heat, and a scent which will be able to attract and kill mosquitoes across the
length and breadth of one acre.
